Caring – why we’re rated highly by the CQC

We know the little things mean everything

It’s often a kind word, a small thoughtful gesture or a discrete observation that can make all the difference to the life of a person facing new practical and emotional challenges because of illness or injury. Learning how to live a different life, and not being able to do it on your own, is a pretty big deal and will bring up all sorts of issues, unique to every individual in our care. That’s why it’s so important to us that we get to know and understand our service-users, their role within their family, their values, and their likes and dislikes. This encompasses not just physical and medical needs, but also the emotional and social aspects of daily life – which, like for us all, is made up of lots of small things intertwined.

Smiles, comfort and familiarity

Home is where the heart is. It’s no wonder that most people choose homecare over residential. So it’s our privilege at Care Matters to help keep people connected to what’s important to them. Independence and maintaining individuality and purpose is a huge part of a person’s dignity, especially when they may be feeling vulnerable. Our carers believe passionately in helping every service-user to lead an active and involved life as much as possible, and at the very heart of this is a caring attitude. Whether it’s encouragement with a hobby, enjoying a cuppa in the garden on a sunny day, or a trip to a favourite place full of memories, we make sure that each individual in our care keeps a sense of fulfilment and comfort.

Why Care Matters

An important part of our story is the reason behind setting up Care Matters. It was after personal experience, that we realised people could and should have better. Our determination to make the every-day detail just as important as addressing the primary need for care, has led to a highly rated, tailored service provision that is welcomed and appreciated by many individuals and their families who are facing new and challenging circumstances in their lives.

Noticeably different

Feedback from service-users and their families reflects how they always feel fully involved in decision-making and provided with accessible, helpful information. Assessment by the

Care Quality Commission (CQC) highlights our caring staff, known for being attentive, showing compassion and always treating people with dignity and respect. The genuine concern we have for people’s wellbeing is underpinned by our staff getting to know people well, including their personal history and preferences, and we use this to form positive relationships and provide a truly personalised service.
