An attack on the brain, strokes happen when blood supply to part of the brain has been cut off, and affected brain cells become damaged. No two strokes are the same and, as such, stroke aftercare requirements are totally unique to the individual affected.
So, even if you’re not entirely sure what level of stroke aftercare you, or a loved one needs, you’re still welcome to get in touch and start our Care Management Process.
At Care Matters, we understand the unique requirements of stroke aftercare and neurological care. Some people may recover very quickly, and appear to be unaffected, while others may need short or longer term specialist care. Any damage to the brain can affect how the body works, and simultaneously how you think and feel too. Aftercare may often begin in hospital, following the stroke itself, but the aftercare period can become much longer.
As all strokes are different though, the way and rate at which people recover from a stroke can vary significantly. Family members and loved ones may notice changes in an individual’s temperament, mood, and ability to complete everyday tasks. And with such a varied scale of potential needs, it only makes sense that we offer completely tailored and fully flexible home care for strokes, for you or a loved one.

Since my partner came home and needed 24 hour care, how amazing my carers have been with him. Every one of them goes above and beyond their duties. I have never seen him laugh and smile so much since all carers make him feel part of the crew. MS, partner of service user.
