From Care Matters to Cape Town!

A Care Matters homecare worker is asking for support to help make an exciting international learning opportunity a reality as she takes the next step towards becoming a qualified paramedic.

Caitlin Simpson, who began her healthcare journey working in home care with Care Matters, is now in her final year studying Paramedic Science at university.

As part of her degree, Caitlin has been given an incredible opportunity to undertake an elective placement in Cape Town, South Africa. However, as the placement is self-funded, she is raising money to help cover the costs and make the experience possible.

From Home Care to Paramedic Science

Caitlin’s journey into healthcare began at Care Matters, where her experience working in home care helped shape her passion for supporting others.

During her time in care, she developed valuable skills in compassion, patience and communication. Most importantly, she learned the importance of treating every individual with dignity, understanding and respect.

These experiences have continued to influence her university studies and helped build her confidence when caring for patients with different needs.

An Exciting Opportunity in South Africa

The elective placement in Cape Town will give Caitlin the opportunity to experience a different healthcare system and learn from healthcare professionals in South Africa.

She hopes to develop her clinical knowledge, explore cultural differences in healthcare and gain valuable experience that will support her future career in paramedicine.

It will also provide an opportunity for personal growth as she takes on new challenges and experiences healthcare from a different perspective.

How You Can Support Caitlin

To help make this opportunity possible, Caitlin has set up a fundraising page and is welcoming donations of any size.

Every contribution will help towards the cost of her self-funded placement. If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing her fundraising page with friends, family and colleagues would also make a difference.

Care Matters is incredibly proud to see Caitlin progressing in her healthcare journey and wishes her every success with her fundraising and upcoming placement.

If you’d like to support Caitlin and help her take this exciting next step, you can donate through her JustGiving page below.
